Kansas Supreme Court Rule 172 permits Hearing Officers to preside over summary administrative hearings in the area of enforcement and modification of child support/maintenance orders, enforcement of parenting time, enforcement of visitation orders, the establishment of support orders in limited cases, and birth certificate changes. Johnson County became the first judicial district in Kansas to formally create the Hearing Officer positions in August, 1987. We have three presiding officers, William Coffee, Melanie Busse, and Dean Garland. Their offices are located on the 3rd floor, room 335 of the Johnson County Courthouse. They may be reached at:

(913) 715-3668 or (913) 715-3669, or by email at hearing-officers@jocogov.org.
